How do you change the indicator stalk on a ford escort 98?

Hi, I need to replace the indicator/ wiper stalk on my ford escort 1.6, 1998.

I was hoping someone knows how to get into that steering column to replace the unit? All help greatly appreciated!

undo ALL the plastic screws in the nacelle, then jusy swap teh control stalks over, its a plug block, which only fits one way...

First thing, does your car have a drivers airbag?



If yes, forget the idea of doing it yourself and take it to a garage.



If no, remove the centre boss of the steering wheel, find a suitable socket spanner and remove the steering wheel.



Then remove the two halves of the steering column around the switches taking care not to lose the screws.



Unplug the switch and replace.



Repeat the above in reverse to put everything back together.

It's not that difficult. Just remove the black plastic steering cowling and this will give you access to the wiper and indicator stalks. Then remove the block connector and remove the stalk. How do you change the indicator stalk on a ford escort 98?
